Sony has announced two new phones that it promises will be great for selfies – the Xperia XA2 and XA2 Ultra.
The powerful front and back cameras are a prominent feature of these phones. The Xperia XA2 has a 23MP rear camera with Sony’s large 1/2.3” Exmor RS mobile image sensor, with ISO 12800 sensitivity for clear low-light photography. For video recording there is 4K quality as well as a 120 fps slow motion option for capturing all the action. For those all important selfies, there’s a 120° super wide-angle 8MP camera on the front.
Like many recent smartphones, Sony has gone for an all-screen design with a 5.2 inch Full HD display. The phone continues the Xperia’s “loop surface” design and is comfortable in the hand with the metal sides and back. The phone is unlocked with a fingerprint sensor on the back.
For longer phone usage the XA2 has a high-capacity 3,300 mAh battery and combines that with a powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 630 processor to ensure speedy performance. Quick charging is also supported and the phones will come in silver, black, blue and pink.
The Sony Xperia XA2 Ultra shares many of the features of it’s smaller counterpart, but comes with a 6 inch full HD screen. This phone has the same back camera, but an enhanced front camera that Sony says will be perfect for selfies. It features 16MP with optical image stabilisation and 8MP 120° super wide-angle dual front cameras, both with front flash, producing clear shots regardless of lighting or environment and ideal for fitting more friends and surroundings into the picture.
Both phones will launch with Android 8 Oreo – look out for them at Direct Mobiles in February.
