The Lowdown on the Samsung Galaxy A5 and A3

Not to be left out, Samsung are the latest smartphone manufacturer to release a mobile phone with selfie-lovers in mind. In fact they are about to launch two new smartphones geared towards the younger end of the market which come complete with decent camera on the front as well as selfie enhancing software and functionality especially for social media fans. The two new A Series handsets – the A5 and A3 are mid-range smartphones but sport some impressive premium looks.

First up is the bigger and more powerful Galaxy A5 which boasts a 5-inch 720 pixel display and is super thin at just 6.7mm. The A5 and it’s A3 sibling share the same unibody metallic good looks and will be available in a range of 6 appealing colour choices. The Galaxy A5 features a 13-megapixel rear-facing camera with LED flash, that all important 5-megapixel selfie taking camera on the front and an excellent 16-megapixels of built-in memory which can be expanded with a microSD card. On the inside there’s a 1.2GHz quad-core processor, 2GB of RAM and a more than adequate 2300mAh battery. It also come with NFC and will initially run on the Android KitKat 4.4 operating system.

The Galaxy A3 is the smaller of the two with slightly more modest specs. It features a 4.5-inch 540 x 960 screen and is very slim at 6.9mm in depth and weighs just 110 grams. Like the Galaxy A5, it has a quad-core 1.2GHz processor alongside 1GB of RAM, 16GB of expandable onboard storage and a decent 1900mAh battery. Camera-wise there’s the same 5GB front facing camera as the Galaxy A5 and on the back there’s an 8-megapixel version. The A3 will also run on Android KitKat 4.4 and it’s NFC enabled.

Both the Galaxy A5 and A3 will be available in China later this month and are expected to be available globally including in the UK over the coming months.
