Samsung Galaxy S6 – the Rumours So Far

galaxy-s6-design-leak-1We could be seeing a new premium Samsung Galaxy smartphone in less than two months as indications are that Samsung will unveil their latest ‘S-series’ handset, the Galaxy S6, at Mobile World Congress at the beginning of March. MWC will be held in Barcelona between the 2-5 March and is often the event chosen to launch new smartphones. Here are the rumours concerning the Samsung Galaxy S6 so far.

There’s speculation that Samsung are working on a large screen for the S6, possibly as big as 5.5-inches, which will be similar to the LG G3. The S6 screen could boast a 4K (2160 x 3840) resolution or Samsung may opt for a Quad HD (1440 x 2560) display. The latest rumours are that Samsung will manufacture the Galaxy S6 with a metal frame, possibly along the same lines as it’s Galaxy Alpha smartphone and move away from the plastic design featured in the S5.

It’s likely that the Galaxy S6 will come preloaded with the latest Android 5.0 Lollipop operating system and will include an upgraded version of Samsung’s TouchWiz user interface. Depending on what screen the S6 comes with, it’s thought that the Galaxy S6 will be powered by a Snapdragon 808 or 810, 64-bit processor alongside a decent 3GB of RAM. Storage-wise, there could be a choice of storage options with the S6 offering 32, 64 and 128GB of onboard memory.

The rear-facing camera is expected to be a 16-megapixel snapper, or possibly a 20-megapixel version, with optical image stabilisation. Almost all new smartphones these days seem to come with a minimum of a 5-megapixel front-facing camera so our money is on the same for the S6.

The Samsung Galaxy S6 is also rumoured to include a set of high quality earbuds similar to Apple’s Earpods which are thought to work wirelessly and there could be some new software to enable sounds, fonts and other features to be customised.
