What Can We Expect from the HTC One M9?

htc-one-m9-pressWe’ve heard that we could be seeing the HTC One M9 make its debut in just over a month’s time. In fact we may not even have to wait to see it at this year’s Mobile World Congress as there’s speculation that HTC will be launching the One M9 on March 1st, the day before MWC is due to open. There have also been rumours that HTC may go with a different name and call it the HTC Hima rather than the HTC One M9 but we think that the One M9 is a bit more liekly so we’ll refer to it as that for the time being!

So what can we expect to see from HTC’s new flagship smartphone? The latest reports indicate that the design and styling will be along similar lines to the One M8. It’s likely that the premium handset will sport an all-in-one, aluminium frame with the familiar and highly regarded BoomSound dual speakers on the front. HTC may be moving away from curves with a squarer shape and the second camera on the rear is likely to not feature on the One M9 and will instead be replaced by a single, impressive 20.7-megapixel camera which boasts optical image stabilisation. The current trend for 5-megapixel front-facing cameras is likely to be torn up for the M9 as its anticipated that it will come with a 13-megapixel camera on the front.

Screen-wise, we could see a bigger screen for the M9 than the 5-inch HTC One M8. A popular rumour for the M9 is that it will come with a 5.2-inch display similar to the one used on the HTC Desire Eye handset. It’s also thought that the M9 will be waterproof as HTC strives to compete with comparable smartphones from Sony and Samsung. In terms of colour choices, HTC may go for the popular colour themes of gold, silver and grey.

On the inside, there’s speculation that the HTC One M9 will be powered by the new quad-core, 64-bit Snapdragon 810 processor alongside 3GB of RAM. It’s highly likely that the M9 will feature the Android Lollipop 5.0 operating system from the start and there will be a decent amount of onboard storage, 32GB, which can be increased to a maximum of 128GB with the usual microSD card.

There is undoubtedly more reports and leaks to come on the HTC One M9 so watch this space for the very latest.
