Fresh off the back of launching the impressive flagship Honor 20 Series last month, Honor have announced a new model to their range, the Honor 8S.
This is Honor’s venture into the sub-£100 mobile space and as is usual for the brand, it packs in a lot more than your average smartphone at a similar price.
On the design-side, it has a dewdrop display – this means there’s a small space at the top of the screen for the 5 megapixel selfie camera but then the rest of the front is pretty much all screen, well 84.6% of it to be precise. It has a 5.71 inch LCD display, a 13 megapixel main camera and 32GB of storage which is pretty good for a phone at this price point. If 32GB isn’t enough for you and you’re willing to fork out for a Micro SD card, you can increase the memory up to 512GB, which should give you more than enough storage space for all your photos (combine this with Google Photos unlimited free storage and you’d be sorted). The 13MP rear camera can also record 1080p video.
In terms of power, you’re getting a 3,020mAh battery which should easily last you the day if you’re not a power-user, 2GB of RAM and quad-core processor to power your apps. Yes, this is an entry-level smartphone but at under £100, it’s going to appeal to those that want a straight-forward smartphone with a decent camera and without some of the premium features that increase the cost such as wireless charging, 3D senors and quadruple-lens camera.
Honor are known for great value phones but this new launch makes the brand’s mobile range even more accessible to a wider market.
The Honor 8S is available to buy now at Fonehouse, Carphone Warehouse and Very now and will also be available from Argos soon. Carphone Warehouse and Fonehouse also have it available on pay monthly contracts from around £15 a month.
