Hasbro Bringing Back Those 1990s Hand-Held Games We All Loved

The 1990’s are officially back, thanks to the return of these.

Hasbro have announced that they’re bringing back Tiger Electronics LCD hand-held video games this year according to a report in Gizmodo.

The original toys were the go-to for mobile gaming in the late 80’s and through the 90’s, long before smartphones and Angry Birds turned up, and especially if you didn’t have a Game Boy. They were simple, usually single-screened games that often included licensed appearances from popular characters such as the X-Men and Transformers.

Hasbro have unveiled four titles for the relaunch so far, including Sonic the Hedgehog 3, Disney’s Little Mermaid, X-Men and Transformers Generation 2. They were surprisingly addictive, encouraging you to have just one more go to better your high score.

Each of the new games are based on the originals but have updated designs so collectors can spot the originals.  The battery life will have no doubt have improved too and they’re expected to retail for around $15 each (£12).

They’ll make their public debut at the 2020 Toy Fair in New York but the games are available to pre-order at GameStop in the US now and hopefully we’ll have a UK release date announced soon.
