EXTREME Launch New eSIM Mobile Network

It’s one of the first eSIM-only mobile networks that doesn’t require a SIM card

Action sports brand EXTREME have today launched EXTREME Connect; a global mobile network utilising eSIM technology. eSIM is a relatively new technology for smartphones that does away with the need for a traditional plastic SIM card, and instead uses an eSIM chip that is already embedded in the users compatible phone.

Phone manufacturers such as Apple, Samsung and Google have been releasing eSIM compatible phones for a few years now but it’s a service that is only just starting to gain traction, with EXTREME Connect being one of the first global networks to run entirely with eSIM.

EXTREME Connect offers customers 30 day eSIM data plans that work in over 100 countries, including the UK, USA, Australia, Poland, Germany, France and Spain.  Customers can sign up for the service by downloading the app from the Apple or Google Play app stores and then sign up from within the app.

You’ll need an eSIM compatible phone to use EXTREME Connect – some of the latest compatible models include Apple’s iPhone XS, XR, iPhone 11 and iPhone 12 series, along with the Samsung Galaxy S20, S21 series and Google Pixel 3a, 4 and 5.

Protecting the planet

As part of EXTREME’s mission to protect the planet, this eSIM service is a step for the global climate action movement to reduce the production of plastic SIM cards that apparently produce over 70,000 tonnes of Co2 per year.

EXTREME have also partnered with ‘The Planet Mark’ to measure their environmental impact, Patagonia-inspired 1% For The Planet movement, which commits them to giving 1% of their annual revenue to environmental non-profit organisations and the United Nations ‘Sports for Climate Action’ to raise awareness about climate change and promotes sustainable and responsible consumption through the power of sport and adventure.

Global roaming

With 80 direct global roaming agreements in place, EXTREME Connect aims to offer high streaming speeds and reduced latency wherever customers requires it. Alongside this is a flexible billing option which allows you to top-up and add more data without a contract.

In order to secure the best possible mobile coverage across the world, EXTREME Connect has partnered with a number of well known carriers including Vodafone, O2, Play, T-Mobile, AT&T, Orange, KPN and HKT.

To further develop this service, EXTREME Connect will also operate a mobile shop through which users can purchase the latest eSIM-compatible mobile phones and accessories that focus on the areas of: durability, portability, and sustainability.

Alistair Gosling, CEO & Founder of EXTREME said, “We are incredibly excited to finally be announcing EXTREME Connect after it has so long been in development. Mobile technology has become an absolutely vital aspect of modern life, and the current SIM offering does not reflect the progression we have seen across other aspects of mobile tech. We believe that eSIM technology represents this step forward and we are committed to providing the best possible mobile experience for our customers”.

The EXTREME Connect app is available to download now from the Apple App Store for iPhone and the Google Play Store for Android phones.
