Following in the footsteps of Three and Vodafone.
You may remember about 10 years ago, nearly every mobile network offered unlimited mobile data. Then those plans started to disappear, with only Three still selling them. Well 2019 has been the year of unlimited data returning and EE this week joined Three and Vodafone to offering unlimited data mobile plans, including 4G and 5G.
EE were the first network to rollout 5G back in May but all plans had data allowances included. In fact, EE hasn’t ever had a unlimited data plan, until now.
The plans start at £69 a month including a phone. And if you’re after a SIM only plan, they’ve launched an unlimited 5G SIM for £44 per month and an unlimited 4G SIM for £34 a month.
The 5G ‘Smart Plans’ include three Swappables which are added benefits to the price plan – these include BT Sport, Amazon Prime Video and a Roam Further Pass.
The 4G unlimited plans start at £64 a month and include two swappable benefits. There are no speed restrictions on the 4G or 5G plans which means you’ll get the fastest speed available for the area you’re in (assuming you have a compatible phone). EE are also calling the plans ‘truly’ unlimited which means there shouldn’t be any sneaky small print restrictions on usage.
One of the biggest advantages of being on EE is Data Gifting. This allows you to share some of your data allowance with other mobile users on your account each month. With the new unlimited data plans you can gift up to 100GB to other users, such as family members. If you pick one of the 5G plans, this increases to 120GB a month. This is ideal if a parent has their child’s phone on their account as it means they can probably move them to a lower cost tariff and then top them up with data every month.
EE’s 5G network is still rolling out across the UK and is so far available in London, Cardiff, Belfast, Birmingham, Manchester and Edinburgh.
