Everyone is talking about the brand new iPhone 7 from Apple. You can choose from iPhone 7 or the bigger iPhone 7 Plus.

So which phone is for you?

Let’s have a close look at the differences between the two models.

Naturally, as it is called the Plus, you get more for your money with the iPhone 7 Plus. It’s size is 158 x 78 mm compared to 138 x 67 for the iPhone 7 and it is a couple of millimetres thicker also.

It might come down to how the phone feels in your hand. For some, it will feel uncomfortably large and hard to type with one hand. For others, the bigger screen and higher definition display could be essential for video and Internet browsing on the go. The iPhone 7 Plus has 1920 x 1080 screen at 401 ppi against 1334 x 750 and 326 ppi for it’s smaller counterpart.

Speed-wise, both phones share a new Apple A10 fusion chip, so there is improved performance over the 6S, but no difference between models.

The biggest difference and one that might sway you one way or the other is the camera. Both phones have a 7 megapixel front-facing camera, but the rear camera is greatly enhanced on the iPhone 7 Plus. iPhone 7 shares a 12 megapixel resolution with the 7 Plus, but the 7 Plus has a new feature for Apple, a dual camera on the rear. These two cameras work together to give you a 2 x optical and 10 x digital zoom. Later updates are promised to enable depth of field effects with the 7 Plus camera. The better camera set-up combined with the higher definition display is sure to attract keen mobile photographers to the 7 Plus.

The 7 Plus has a larger battery than the 7, although it remains to be seen how this translates in every day usage. Apple says both phones will have an extra hour of life compared to previous models. Both phones also have a choice of 32GB, 128GB and 256GB storage.

Higher def, dual camera and bigger display, the iPhone 7 Plus has a lot to offer, but of course iPhone 7 will cost less and is easier to handle, plus both phones are improved in performance compared to the 6S.
