iPhone 6 vs iPhone 6 Plus – Making Your Choice

iPhone_6We’ve been so excited here at Direct Mobiles since the arrival of Apple’s latest iPhones, the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus. When there are two amazing new iPhones to choose from, it can be hard to decide which one is the best for you, here’s a look at how they both measure up.

Design

There’s no mistaking that the iPhone 6 Plus is a fair bit bigger than the iPhone 6. The smaller iPhone 6 comes with a 4.7-inch Retina HD screen compared to a whopping 5.5-inch LCD display on the iPhone 6 Plus. As you would expect the screen resolution is higher on the 6 Plus with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 which gives it 400 pixels per inch. The standard iPhone 6 has a resolution of 1334 x 750 which equates to 326 ppi.

Apple have given their newest iPhones a bit of a style makeover too with rounded and tapered corners, a more robust screen and an aluminium frame. In terms of handset size, the iPhone 6 is a very slim 6.8mm in depth as is the iPhone 6 Plus which is a shade thicker at 7.1mm. Both handsets are pretty light in weight with the iPhone 6 weighing in at 129 grams compared to 172 grams for the iPhone 6 Plus. Both versions of the iPhone 6 are available in 3 colours which are space gray, silver and gold.

Camera

There’s not a huge difference between the main rear cameras on the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus. Both handsets feature the same 8-megapixel camera which comes with a f/2.2 aperture and dual LED flash. The camera enhancements on the iPhone 6 Plus include optical image stabilization and, of course, the advantage of the larger screen which gives you a better view to perfect your images. Both the standard iPhone 6 and 6 Plus feature a front-facing 1.2-megapixel camera perfect for FaceTime.

Power and Battery

The iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus have the same dual-core 1.4GHz processor, Apple A8 chip together with 1GB of RAM. There’s a choice of storage options for both iPhone 6 smartphones namely 16GB, 64GB and 128GB. There’s no option to further increase the onboard memory as both handsets do not feature a microSD slot. The bigger iPhone 6 Plus comes with a very powerful 2915mAh battery which provides an impressive 24 hours of 3G talk time or 14 hours of video watching or 80 hours of music. There’s a decent 1810mAh battery which is enough for around 14 hours of 3G talk time or 11 hours of video playback or 50 hours of music.
