Switching mobile phone networks, welcome to the future?

Switching your mobile phone network and moving your mobile number from one network to another is as easy as texting for a PAC or STAC code. All networks (MNO or MVNO) from July 1^st 2019 will follow the same switching procedure. All processes have been aligned as have all abbreviations and all text numbers. You can now get your PAC code and move your mobile number in 8 keystrokes. You will not have to call and spend the next hour or so of your life navigating a multitude of options to be allowed to speak to someone to give you a PAC code ( you can still call if you want to)! You would use a PAC code if you wanted to switch mobile phone networks and keep your existing mobile number or use a STAC code if you wanted to switch mobile phone networks immediately and get a new mobile number.

Below are a few of the abbreviations you will need to know and the short code numbers

PAC code = Porting Authorisation Code

STAC code = Service Termination Authorisation Code

MNO = Mobile Network

MVNO = Mobile Virtual Network

ETF= Early termination fee ( if you are still within contract this will apply )

For all networks the following basic switching procedure will apply:

For PAC: Text PAC to 65075

For STAC: Text STAC to 75075

For INFO: Text INFO to 85075

In each case you will be given your ETF ( if applicable) outstanding bill and PAC or STAC. Info will give your current ETF and billing information. The codes will last for 30 days and will terminate your existing agreement when you give this code to your new network. Your existing contract will be teminated as soon as your new network gets the PAC or STAC code, this could save you one months line rental.

Please note that the above only apply to single mobile number accounts, if you have more than one mobile number you will still have to call your existing MNO or MVNO.
