EXCLUSIVE Huawei Mate 20 Pro deal with 30GB of data

The Huawei Mate 20 Pro has been one of the most well-reviewed smartphones in the UK since it’s launch and the good folk at Metrofone have just pulled out an awesome new 30GB data deal for £36 a month The Mate 20 has a great looking new design compared to the original Mate 10 and packs some real standout tech features.  Note though, the Mate 20 Pro appeared on the market only a month after the already brilliant Huawei P20 Pro, so what has it brought to the party?

Design

Well, some design improvements for starters. Huawei have managed to hide the fingerprint-sensor inside the screen itself which means you get more display on the front of the phone.  The screen is a large OLED panel, bigger than the P20 Pro by 0.3″, but also bumps the resolution up to Quad HD (compared to the P20 Pro).  You get a notch but I think we’ve all learnt, that’s not really an issue nowadays (and if you really hate it, you can hide it using the black software bars that can be displayed on screen).

That awesome 30GB deal

On pay monthly contracts, the Huawei Mate 20 Pro has been sitting in the £40+ price plan bracket for some time now, with tiny data allowances if you want to move down the price plan table and pay some cash upfront.  That’s all changed with this new exclusive deal from Metrofone, where you can now grab the Mate 20 Pro for £36 a month, £139 upfront including a massive 30GB of data, unlimited minutes and texts and, because it’s on EE, you get 6 months of Apple Music free too (yep, even works on Android phones).

And if you want to pay nothing upfront but a bit more per month, this O2 deal from Mobile Phones Direct is £41 a month, no upfront with  75GB of data.

The Huawei Mate 20 Pro is now available for £36 a month, £139 upfront on EE and includes 30GB of data.

The camera

The P20 Pro camera is one of the best on the market, and probably the main reason the phone was such a success. The Mate 20 Pro camera is even better.  If you’re familar with the P20 Pro’s camera, then that’s probably all you need to know but for everyone else, the Mate 20 Pro has a 40 megapixel camera and 8 megapixel telephoto lens.  This is the same as the P20 Pro, but the Mate upgrades the lens for a 20 megapixel ultra wide-angle camera.  This means your close-up photos and super-wide photos look even more impressive. This camera upgrade also means the Mate 20 Pro is great for low-light shooting, including night time photography.

More power

The Huawei Mate 20 Pro gets a speed boost compared to the P20 Pro, with the new Kirin 980 chip (compared to the year old 970 on the P20 Pro).  The only chip that beats the Mate 20 Pro’s is Apple’s A12 in their top of the range iPhone.  For Android fan though, it’s the Huawei Mate 20 Pro that sits at the top of the table.

You’re getting a 4200mAh battery in the Mate 20 Pro which means its going to last the day for regular users.  You’ll likely have some battery left at the end of the day but will want to top it up that night or the following morning if you’re heading out and about.  You also get wireless charging thrown in too (sooooo much more convenient than you think it would be).  Fast charging means you can charge a Mate 20 Pro in 30 minutes.

Memory

In terms of storage, you’re getting 128GB on board, but unlike the P20 Pro, you can also expand the memory on the Mate 20 Pro using Huawei’s Nano Memory cards (these aren’t your standard MicroSD cards but it’s nice to have the option for more space).

Summary

Overall, the Mate 20 Pro is a proper upgrade in tech versus the P20 Pro and one of the best Android phones you can buy right now.  Head this way to pick up that big 30GB data deal from Metrofone as we’re not sure how long it’ll be around for.
