Sony Xperia Z4 – The Lowdown

sony-xperia-z4This week saw the unveiling of Sony’s new flagship smartphone the Sony Xperia Z4. Without too much hype and speculation, Sony fairly quietly introduced the premium Xperia Z4 to the world in Japan. As information hasn’t been made available in English yet, this is the information we have on the Z4 so far.

On the design front, the Xperia Z4 shares similar looks to the Xperia Z3. Sony have kept the water and dust resistant feature which has proved to be so popular with its customers and it also keeps the metallic frame which looks to be boasting some additional shimmering.

It appears that the Z4, like the Z3, has a 5.2-inch 1080 x 1920 display but the Xperia Z4 is slimmer measuring 6.9mm in depth compared to 6.9mm. The new Xperia Z4 is also lighter in weight – 144g as opposed to 152g for the Z3. There is 32GB of onboard storage which can be increased to 128GB with the use of a microSD card.

The main rear camera on the Xperia Z4 also looks to be similar to its predecessor so we expect it to be a 20.7-megapixel camera with an Exmor RS sensor, autofocus and an LED flash. The front-facing camera on the Z4 is a 5.1-megapixel snapper and comes with digital image stabilisation and a brand-new wide-angle lens for you’ve guessed it, better selfies.

On the inside there have been some upgrades with the Z4 powered by the new octa-core Snapdragon 810 processor with 64-bit technology compared to the 801 processor found in the Xperia Z3. The RAM at 3GB stays the same and the battery for the Z4 is slightly smaller with 2930mAh of power compared to 3100mAh inside the Z3.

The Xperia Z4 will be available in Japan in 4 colour choices which are White, Black, Copper and Aqua Green. We’ll let you know about a possible international launch for the Z4 as soon as we hear more news.
