Our 5 Favourite Apps for November

john-lewis-bear-hare-ad-appThis month’s apps definitely have a Yule tide slant as we head towards December. We take a look at 5 of our favourite new apps for November.

Bear & Hare (iOS, Android – Free)

Unless you’ve been asleep in the cave with the bear, you’ve no doubt seen this year’s John Lewis Christmas advert. Not only is there a Bare and Hare range of gifts and clothing but they’ve also brought out an app. A lovely festive story for younger children, the app features an interactive e-Book with fun games and additional features. The animations are lovely with lots of icons for little ones to touch on screen and the book is narrated by Lauren Laverne.

Lift (iOS, Android – Free)

A rather handy ‘motivating’ app to help you achieve your goals whether it’s to eat more healthily, lose weight or stop bad habits. You can also set yourself targets to improve your skills and career prospects. Lift keeps a record of your daily progress towards the goals you’ve set yourself through positive reinforcement and encouragement to make things a habit. Don’t wait until January, download it now and get yourself started!

Binny’s Advent Calendar 2013 (iOS, Android – £0.59)

A super-cute advent calendar app from award-winning illustrator Binny Talib. Just click on the relevant day to open a fun little game to keep you kids amused and entertained. There’s also some great craft features including decorating Christmas trees and reindeer antlers and Christmassy songs to get you in the festive spirit.

PhotoBook – in 2 Minutes (iOS, Android – Free)

If you’re like us and never quite get around to sorting out a photo book of the many snaps you’ve taken throughout the year, this app could be very useful. It’s probably no coincidence that the PhotoBook app has been released just before most people start to think about doing their Christmas shopping. PhotoBook makes it very quick and easy to convert your smartphone photos into a great keepsake. Choose from 8 different photo book options starting from 20 pages through to books which hold up to 180 pictures and with a few swipes you can get your books ordered & shipped across the globe.

MoviePop (Android – Free)

The makers of the popular app SongPop have just released a fun game for film lovers called MoviePop. Challenge your mates and friends on Facebook to a game of putting the name to the movie clip. As well as spotting the film the clip comes from, you can also have a go at identifying the actors. There are literally thousands of films on the app, pick your favourite movie topic and test your knowledge.
